ON TO THE MAVS GAME...

MiloshD

Watched the Clips-Mavs game. IMHO to beat the Mavs teams still must:

1. control Nash on defense and attack him on offense
2. attack the paint, Mavs are tall but tend to make lots of fouls there
3. stop NVE from reaching the paint - he is their best post player
4. be patient. They have players who can light it up for three quarters without really playing organized offense but they can't keep doing it for the entire game. Make them take difficult shots and don't wory if they hit 10 in a row with a hand in their face, it won't last forever.

The Mavs are wiithout doubt, a better team than the awesome team they were last year.

Still, a very winnable game for the Kings. For a start, the Mavs have devoted themselves to the zone. It suits their line-up, but not as much as it suits Peja. I listened to his post-game interview on ALP yesterday, and he was basically begging the Mavs to try a zone on him. Consecutive season-highs in the last two games - the boy is BACK.

Also, Peja has a strange ability to D'up Dirk, despite not being able to guard anyone else in the league (*cough*Shawn Marion/Kevin Garnett* cough).

Webber vs La Frentz is another obvious mis-match for the Kings to exploit. If Webber plays tough, there is NO WAY the Mavs inside combo can stop him. If the outside shot is falling as well, he'll just toy with them.

That said, the Mavs have incredible talent, and some of the best shooters in the league. The Kings will need to bring their A game, but I'm a firm believer that the Kings's A game > Mav's A game. Sorry, Mavs fans, but that's the way it is, standings notwithstanding. :)

Every basketball fan is expecting the upcoming Mavs-Kings game and it was already being hyped as a "statement" game for both side. Yes, it indeed is an important game for the Kings, but so is the next game vs. the Clippers, even so as the game after the next one against the Warriors...truth is, in a long 82-games regular season, you can say every one is equally important as anoyher one. What really counts in the end is the totally winning percentage to determine who gets the home-court advantage, which may, or may not be THAT important for the real good teams like the Kings and the Mavs, as last playoffs indicated.

What I 'm trying to say, is that I don't want Kings and its fans to put so much energy on this single regular season meeting against the best team in the league right now, and I believe players from both teams know it best. Mavs won both meeting against the Kings at ARCO last season and got 3 in 4 regular season tries, but that meant zero when the true battle began. And the Kings this saeson has already lost twice to the Blazers and T'Wolves, after winning the so-called "statement" game vs. the Lakers and Nets.

What I really want to see is Adelman put a little more faith in his deepest bench in the league, explore more possiblity in the lineup combination, and avoid any other player to get injured. To see peja getting hotter and hotter surely won't hurt, too.

..And, practice the god darn free throws, please. I don't want this to mess up a very good thing.
