He
is such an arrogant punk, and really hasn't
grown up. I watch his interviews immediately
following games and he is so disrespectful
to the person interviewing him. It's really
quite nauseating.
I
wish someone would knock that 340 lb. ox on
his ass, just once. He needs an "attitude
adjustment" for sure!
Go
Kings and Mavs!
DISGUSTED
kingme
I'm
thrilled with the Kings gutty win - Peja was
fabulous. He showed everyone why he's an All-star...which
brings me to why I'm upset. I think Vlade
should have gone as the back-up center to
Shaq, but I don't think it's a league conspiracy
w/Cuban, of all people. I DO think they wanted
to put both Dirk and Peja in, and this was
a compromise of sorts so they could get it
done.
I was watching a re-cap of the Nets game and
I began thinking...I'm happy for Byron Scott
and all - I wanted him to coach the Kings,
but that's another complaint. It's just soooo
obvious to me that after George Steinbrenner
bought the Nets and added them to his sports
empire things miraculously began to turn around
for the lowly Nets. Rod Thorn suddenly decides
to step down from his position as right hand
man to Stern to be the Nets GM. They lure
Scott away from the Kings, knowing a good
thing when they see it. Then, as luck would
have it, they get the #1 pick in the draft.
Gee, imagine that! Then, this year they pull
off a stunning trade which "nets"
them Kidd, who turns around the whole franchise
with his playmaking abilities. Suddenly, Kenyon
Martin turns into a Karl Malone wannabe, Keith
Van Horn is The White Wonder, Kerry Kittles...yeah,
yeah, he's tastin' the rainbow... it's all
too good to be true - and to be believed.
I mean, think about it. this is Stern's dream
come true. Not one but two teams sharing a
huge market and if one team falters, the other
is there to pick up the slack -and revenue.
In other words, I begrudge them their success
and won't give them their due. They didn't
go through the steps...they took the short-cut
to victory.
Now the Kings...they did it with blood, sweat
and tears - lots of them. No one helped Geoff
Petrie, and the league could have cared less
. At least we can say, when it's all said
and done - that we did it our way.

Its
funny....here we are halfway through the season...
The
Kings finished last year one game behind the
Lakers with a 55-27 record....we would have
to go 21-17 the rest of the way to match that....26-12
to win 60 games for the first time in franchise
history. We have done this for the most part
without Webber, who we are an unbelievable
17-3 with him in the game (18-3 after tonight).
If
we can split this road trip, and be in first
place at the end of February, we will win
the Pacific.
I
strongly feel that if we have any chance at
beating LA in the playoffs, we MUST have homecourt
advantage. We also need to win consistently
on the road. It has been a long time since
there was a home and home sweep in the NBA
finals...the road always factors in.
Not
to sound negative, but at this point we are
a paper tiger of sorts. We have had the easiest
schedule of the big 5 in the west, and are
one game over .500 on the road. The Lakers
were in the same identical position last year,
with Shaq and Kobe fighting. Now its Shaq's
toe, fist, blah blah. When it comes down to
the playoffs, I don't care if we are 40-1
at home and 31-10 on the road....we still
have not stopped Kobe and Shaq in the playoffs,
and until we do....we ain't done nothin'
I
understand....we need to play the regular
season, I sound spoiled, I should be happy
to have a winning franchise....all of those
are very true. I just have a hard time going
balls out happy because this seems like deja
vu. There is no question in anyone with a
brain's mind that LA and the Kings are the
two best teams in the NBA. However, the Lake
just keeps looming. In addition to "boredom",
keep in mind that LA arguably has better personnel
than they did last year. Richmond, Walker,
and Hunter provide more depth.
Keep
in mind that In Phil Jackson's triangle offense,
it usually (according to players) takes a
full season to master. This is one of the
many reasons why PJ's teams always seem to
jell in the second half.
I
am not saying any of this to be a negative
nancy (huh?) but to try and calm myself down.
Like when you go out on your 1st date with
that dream girl with the big (ahem) and you
come home not allowing yourself to fall in
love....because you are protecting yourself
from the heartache. You've been hurt before,
and you don't want that kind of pain.
I
was sitting in ARCO two seasons ago when we
played the Lake in game 5 of the first playoff
series...we were so hyped up.....95% of the
fans at ARCO left mid way through the 4th
when the outcome was decided....I made myself
stay until the end, so I would never forget
the bitter taste....and would always appreciate
the sweet smell of victory, never taking it
for granted.
I
appreciate our smell right now, but I can
still taste the taste. The only way to get
rid of it is to rinse my mouth out with champagne
drunk from the imitation trophy I am holding
in my living room while staring at the headline
in that evening's special edition of the Bee:
"Its
good to be King"

Halfway
through the season, the Kings and their fans
found an unlikely place in the sun. On top
of the NBA league. Although it's way out cold
here in California, the hot Kings are rising.
They are so "hot" that I finally
changed my stand on their chances. From last
year's pretenders to real contenders. The
Kings really have a big fat chance to crown
themselves as Kings of NBA. Very fitting for
a team known as the Kings to be the NBA World
Champions of 2001-02 season.
But
wait. It's still too early in the season to
count the chickens. Eggs as they are now,
proper hatching is necessary for them to be
golden eggs. Or else, they might end up as
scrambled eggs.
This
team had really matured to a level of a championship
team. No doubt after Geoff Petrie & the
Maloof brothers worked their butts out and
transfigured a lowly team to a star-studded
Sacramento Kings. With the acquisition of
Mike Bibby in an unexpected trade of Jason
Wills, the Kings are now remarkably more serious
& more stable. Mike B blended well with
his new teammates and his teammates accepted
him with a warm hug. The chemistry is perfect.
A
big change in the coaching department attributed
to the current success of the Kings. Coach
Rick Adelman changed in so many ways. There
were times of yesteryears that I questioned
his coaching style. Notably his starting five
being benched while the rest of the team (the
bench mob) finished the game.
The
Bench Mob was a very good stepping stone for
their greatness. But at the same time ruined
the team's chemistry then. The Sit 5 - Come
5 strategy of Coach Adelman is nowhere this
season. Thanks God. He now knows how to rotate
his players, how to give rest to his stars
and when to call the timeouts. Yes, there
are so many small aspects of Rick's style
changes that contributed to their standing.
And of course, his players called him the
"Player's Coach."
Vlade
is still playing his floppy acts and hope
he'll be playing the game straight for he
can. He had shown a remarkable leadership
especially those times when Cwebb was seating.
He was selected by Coach Phil J. of Lakers
to the All-Stars center position. He will
be more respected if he just play basketball
and stop playing like a looney flopper. And
Vlade has to recover his free throws accuracy
for the fouls are coming from the opposing
teams.
Peja
and Hedo are showing their terrific star appeals
and flamboyant shootings and moves. The Kings
followings have gone international. Including
Vlade to the foreign talents that abound the
Kings, most of the Europeans now are supporting
my favorite NBA team.
Peja
have shown in so many games that he could
save the team from losing. But since Peja
is still human, he also lost that opportunity
to ice that game against Dallas and suffered
their only setback at home. But, don't get
me wrong. Peja is a smooth operator and will
never be affected by his failures but rather
made him more of a warrior when he tasted
one. Peja will certainly be attracting defensive
monsters to stop his shooting galore. And
Peja has to learn how to avoid Rick Fox's
swarming defense. Oh, well, I remembered.
Peja just did that when they last won over
the Lakers, didn't he?
Hidayet
Turkoglu or Hedo or Hero, along with Peja,
are convincing other NBA teams to seek foreign
players. Hedo's courage and his dedication
to the Kings' road to glory make other teams
panicked and scout for a Hedo-alike player.
Hedo has his own Fans Club composed of his
countrymen. But I am not Turkish and I like
the guy. I'm sure he is getting attention
because of his unselfish and no-nonsense plays
not only from Turkey citizens but from all
faithful Sacramento Kings' fans.
Doug
Christie never fails to impress me with his
awesome steals and high-jumping dunks. His
tenacity to go for interceptions really made
the Kings' defense remarkable. His 3 pointers,
but not last night against Seattle, were something
to jump with joy when they went straight to
the hoops.
Bobby
Jackson is one fast player that can fly and
can dash. His ability to go for every ball
made his opponents fearing him when he is
around. And boy, oh boy, Bobby can hit 3 pointers
and could kill any team anytime.
Scot
Pollard with his new blonde hairdo makes him
a look-alike of Brandon Frasier in the movie
"Bedazzled." But forget about his
looks especially if that helps his games.
His performance during times of CWebb' absence
really made him a force to reckon with most
especially under the hoops. Scot has to improve
more on how to work effectively deep under
with a Shaq close to him. But certainly, the
Pollard now is a shadow of the comic Pollard
of yesterday. Pollard is very serious, folks,
and I really mean it. He is fantastic and
he could hurt anybody who goes after his ball.
But I still doubt if he could scare Shaquille.
If that happens, that would be a dream comes
true.
I
have seen how Lawrence Funderburke took Pollard
or Vlade's place. Funderburke will always
be with the team and waiting for that signal
from Coach Rick to join the melee.
Wallace,
Cleaves and Price are definitely part of this
team. Wallace and Cleaves, no doubt, if given
the right places at the right times, will
mold the Kings into a solid team. Brent Price
is still searching for his place in the Kings'
roster.
Definitely,
all of the players of this team are stars
in their own rights. I have seen how Gerald
Wallace took the airfield and flew with flying
colors. He had shown so many times that he
loves to dunk. Now, on his first ever season
was chosen to be part of the Slam Dunk contest.
But he should focus more on how to impress
his coach and get more minutes.
I
had seen Mateen Cleaves when he was a Michigan
star. And I know that he will be helping my
Kings which include him to be champions of
the world.
Man
oh man, there are so many players in my team.
Yeah, my team. My Sacramento Kings.
My
man, Chris Webber, the last but not the least,
is finally showing his true wares. He might
elbowed some rookie but he was also elbowed
and tripped and pushed in his so many games.
Well, whether he deserved a one-game suspension
or not, Chris certainly is needed to complete
the team. And CWebb has to be a leader of
this team, no matter what. If that happens,
and CWebb will have the right attitude and
focus of a real champion, the Kings will finally
be crowned.
All
of the above contributed to why the Kings
are on top of the league. But don't forget,
the fans are out there who are the main supporting
cast and without them, that includes me and
my friends, these things will never be realized.
That's the reason why the Kings are tough
at Arco. The fans will always be there and
provide the right chants and winning atmosphere
for the Kings.
The
Goldens will give way to the new rulers. The
Purples will then be called champions and
will rule. And then, they will be the new
"Lords of the Rings."
I
would love to hear from you. If you want to
write me, just write josef@jesusismygod.com.
BTW, I am also working for another King. The
real King of all times.
