MORE
ON THE MAVS GAME
CaliDrumGirl
Transcendent.
That's the best word I can think of for
this game--transcendent.
This
is what I wanted--a close game and a Kings
victory, with all players involved pouring
their hearts into it. The Kings are #1 for
me--but I love the Mavs, I love watching
them, they're an exciting, hard-working
team. Bookit, be proud of your guys tonight...::
bows in respect to an honorable opponent::
Peja,
Peja, Peja! He was here, there, everywhere,
and getting it in. And how ironic that the
last defensive play of the game was his
handiwork on Nowitzki--I'd been screaming
all night for them to put Peja on DN! And
rubbing his hurt wrist while Adelman begged
him "Please don't
|
tell me you're hurt, I can't take anymore!"
Someone please get poor Coach an extra ration of
Maalox and Advil!!
Dirkster
and Nashie were off to a miserable start, but we
knew that wouldn't last all night. They gave it
a great shot and you could tell how much they wanted
this one. I'm looking forward to watching them and
Peja playing on the same side next Sunday.
Guess
they held Doug out of the early 4th to put JJ in
for increased points potential...but when the D
was needed in the last seconds, back he came. Surprised
he didn't take more shots, he looked good on what |

he had. But hell, it's a win... And he worked
his usual magic and then some on passes and defense.
Keon Clark was amazing. That last putback that
sealed the deal for the Kings was just plain beautiful.
He was terrific all game--but what was this between
him and Cuban after the game--a little touch of
smack in the night? There was definite jawing
going on, Damon seemed to be trying to lead him
away from MC...though Damon has a "gift for
gab" himself so who knows what was going
on...
Bibby has definitely found his shot, I'd say...he
did a great, consistent job tonight.
Hedo showed definite evidence of the player he
will eventually be. He did a fabulous job out
there--now if he can do a little more homework
on his D there'll be no stopping the guy.
What a beautiful game, it only sucked that either
team had to lose. This was the kind of game that
left me breathless and epitomized something I've
always wondered about basketball--if it's meant
to be this transcendent because it is a game of
aspirations. Reaching up. Jumping up. Moving forward.
Throwing the ball forward and up. Aiming up. Aspiring.
Maybe that's a little hyper-analytical or bees-in-the-trees,
I don't know, but it's an observation.
Kudos to both victorious Kings and vanquished
Mavericks for a night of aspiration. Looking forward
to next time, gentlemen.
Ken
Really,
there is no reason for any Kings fans who follow
the team closely to hate the Mavs. The Mavs are
an exciting team and have good personels. I think
Mark Cuban's fine money did get a few things in
the league corrected and the effect has been showing
this season. Mavs coach Don Nelson has been a
quite humble guy in front of the media even though
their team has been winning a ton of games and
been at the top of the league the whole season.
The players are quite low key, too. I don't recall
any Mavs players bad-mouthing other players or
throwing verbal jabs here and there. They are
on their way up and everybody realizes that.
I think overall it is a very likeable team. You
just don't find many Mavs-haters around the country.
