KINGS
DELIVER
Blackluv
A
great day for the Kings! Congratulations,
PEJA!!! The quickest, purest shooter! Wasn't
Steve Smith slow? Anyway, even though I think
Richardson's last dunk could have won it,
they had Wallace's scors way too low for him
to have had a chance. They were hard on him
and I wish the let him do that last one again.
Anyway, Chris was quite the cheerleader for
his teammates today. I hope his day is as
good tomorrow and he wins MVP. Its possible...
Although I keep hearing that Kobe plans to
bring it tomorrow. We'll see!
GO PEJA and GO CHRIS!!!!

Geez
you don't think the Laker fans were just a
little bit ticked off when their hand picked
death squad of Derek Fisher, Magic, Leslie
and their "star" who appearently plays summer
league games. Magic even had them practicing
and working on plays. Well, they got smoked
by a team that just met each other. Hedo played
tough and yes he did dunk and block Staley's
shot. Big deal, he played hard. Ask Hedo how
his ribs feel after Moses slammed into him
early in the game. Moses set the tone that
the game would be a tough, serious affair.
Well Hedo was tough enough to take his challenge.
If there were some current NBA players who
should be ashamed, it is Snow, Fisher and
Mobely. Those guys played awful.
Kingme
Is
it my imagination or has the NBA/media already
forgotten about Peja's big victory tonight?
I just get the impresson throughout the whole
All-Star thing that the media only grudgingly
acknowledges the Kings players. It seems that
they are far more interested in hyping younger,
American players like Darius miles, Q Rich,
J Rich, etc. What have those guys ever done?
and they play on crappy teams (Well, the Clippers
are borderline) My teenage daughter, who's
very hip and happening, notices it too, and
it bothers her. She says it's because we have
a lot of Euros, and not enuff "gangsta-playas"
and no, Cwebb much as he'd like to, doesn't
qualify. Everything is geared to the hip-hop
crowd, and the Kings just don't fit that image.
Like before the event, they had the usual
montage of players from various teams as part
of the patriotic-themed promos. The only King
shown out of this big, long deal was a very
quick half-second shot of Webb. There was
another promo which showed Peja for a mili
- second. C'mon! We've got the best record
in the entire league! We're a top-tier team,
or at least that's what us fans think. God
only knows what they're thinking at the league
office and at the networks. That's a huge
insult. Could you imagine if the Knicks, Portland,
Lakers, or Sixers were in our place? It would
be a bombardment of footage of those players'
scowling after dunks, pounding their chests,
and generally whooping it up.
Last year, they made a much bigger thing out
of Allen winning the 3-point contest. They
kept showing him lifting that damn trophy
over and over again right after it happened,
and throughout the All-star games and beyond.
But tonight, I missed the trophy presentation
and there wasn't even one replay afterwards!
But of course, Ray Allen is a more marketable
star than Peja- Well-spoken, good-looking
African-American, was in a Hollywood movie,
has the respect of his peers and superiors
alike.
And of course the Wallace dunk thing was fixed!
didn't you guys see Dr.J after Wallace did
a great job at imitating his dunk? He rubbed
his face all worried like, "how am I
supposed to down-grade this guy?" They
obviously wanted to promote Richardson, who
was already MVP of the rookie game, and he's
also a major part of the Warriors team- not
some guy who just gets garbage time minutes.
Oh no! That would never do! I felt so badly
for him. I don't think he was very prepared
and he looked close to tears at the end. I
hope Webber comforted him and cheered him
up, because he really did more than anyone
expected, coming out of nowhere and all (Well,
to the rest of the NBA at least!)
