MORE THOUGHTS AT THE HALF

Reno Lady

The All-Star weekend couldn't have come at a better time for the Kings, especially with Vlade going down last night too. Hopefully the 7 day rest will put things right with him, Damon Jones, and bring Bobby closer to returning. I'm still of the thinking Bobby will be back sooner than anticipated.

A New Orleans newspaper article talked about Webber being out "several weeks" yet. I haven't heard or read anything other than the original 3 week timeframe when he originally sprained his ankle. Has there been some other news I missed? It's already been 2 weeks since Webber went out so surely he'll be back in another week or 2 at the most, although in his case, I sure don't want him rushing things because I'd rather lose a few more games now and win several more in the postseason.

I'm really starting to empathize with Pat

Riley. From every report I've read/heard so far, the Heat got jobbed big time by the refs last night. And the comment from one of the refs to Riley to "go cry on tv" is way out of line in my opinion. That ref needs to be publicly censured, then fined and/or suspended without pay for a few games.

I checked out the last month, from Jan. 4 through Feb 5.

We played 19 games.

Only 6 were at home.

Of the 13 road games, only 3 were in our time zone.

12 were within 6 back-to-backs.

I was worn out just counting that up.

The really good news is, we have less games left than anybody. Whew!

Hooray for Nickelodeon! They did an outstanding job with their NBA All-Star Weekend Read to Achieve program!

I thought they sent a terrific message to the viewers about the importance of reading and getting a good education, targeting the younger generation very well. My kids loved it!

Many stars were involved, but mucho kudos for several NBA players - both past and present - to show up and participate! Dominique Wilkins, Snaq O'Neal, Vince Carter and Yao Ming to name a few (even though Yao said about three words!).

I just think the NBA should do more of this, especially on network television...
