MORE THOUGHTS ON KINGS ZARDS

Critic

Thx to the Kings for making it enough of a blow-out that all the geezers could rest for the winnable game vs the Clippers tonight. I dreaded the notion of a close loss last night. A win was but a pipe dream, but losses could range from one like that which leaves them fresh tonight or a nail biter that could have doomed them tonight as well.

Some of the credit for the Zards' poor shooting goes to the Kings defense, but in the parts I saw (most of first and last quarters), the Zards were having trouble

hitting lay-ups and dunks, much less jump shots. Without Stack, they had no credible second offensive threat and MJ can't carry them when Christie can give him full attention and others can help out often. That's why I'd have tried the radical notion of starting Kwame Brown at SF. He could match up with Peja easier than he could with some SFs and he might have been able to give Peja some trouble at both ends. But, Collins stayed more traditional. It might have really annoyed Russell to have Kwame start at SF over him, so maybe my idea was a loser for team chemistry anyway. don't get me wrong -- NO coaching decisions mattered last night. It was an old-fashioned mis-match. The much better team won easily.

Okay, it wasn't a work of art...but it was 19 points worth of W...

Peja apparently didn't use up all his 3's in Hotlanta, and managed to get the rock in from various spots. DC really got things going and was not only an unholy terror in the early part of the game but apparently did a great defencive job on MJ from what we heard. Odd GW started but was yanked early, and Hedo ended up getting decent minutes--maybe the bug just had Hedo sub-par at game time and then he felt better? Don't need ANY more of our guys sick or injured now!

Nobody's said anything about our FT % last night! Come on now, that was great! Seems the Kings have been practicing?

Also, I was impressed with the # of autographs Barry Bonds signed last night - he must have stood there for 10-15 minutes at half time signing for the fans.

On a frustrated note, Arco was (with the exception of MJ's introduction) quite like a library. Seems our great "college" atmosphere is history... I was very disappointed. Except for the intro's and the recap of Peja's 3-point stand, the crowd was definitely not into making thunder.
