Kings
Win
Jeremydb26
You
have to love this team!! However, there are only four
emotions you have with this team: 1) Tears of joy
- whether it is coming back from 28, 24, or 21 and
winning a game or seeing Vlade, Chris, Peja, and Hedo
hug and love each other showing that race, color,
or nationality doesn't matter. It is about playing
as a team and loving the team you play with. Tears
of joy - watching the Kings beat the Spurs in OT in
SA without CWebb. 2)Tears of sadness - seeing the
Kings lose to Philly at home in December after they
missed a chance to win in regulation, seeing the Kings
get blown out by Dallas and the Wolves, seeing the
Kings lose a heartbreaker to the Knicks in NY, seeing
the Kings lose a heartbreaker to the Lakers at home.

This
fellow narrowly avoided being lynched by Kings fans,
last night, as the Kings prevailed despite his incompetence.

3)Anger
- seeing CWebb taking too many jump shots, seeing
the team forget how to play defense in close games,
seeing the refs screw the Kings (sorry Critic), seeing
the refs screw Pollard, losing a game the Kings shouldn't
have lost 4)911 heart attack - 9 OT wins, 13 OT games,
the Clippers games, the Knicks games, the 76er game
at home, the Bucks game, the Lakers games, the Blazers
games...shoot, about 50 of the games we played this
year! And finally....watching the Kings beat in the
Spurs in OT in SA without CWebb!!!!!
You
may cry because we won, cry because we lost, be angry
because of the way we played or the fact we didn't
play or were screwed by the refs, need to see your
doctor due to a profound loss of hearing, or have
911 on speed dial, the fact of the matter is....
YOU
GOT TO LOVE THIS TEAM!!

There
is a certain satisfaction in beating both the Spurs
AND the stripers.
Go
Kings!!!!
Ken
I
still think the refs made a lot of bad calls, but
right now, all I care about is the Kings' W. Gotta
be the best win of the season! GO KINGS!
The
Real JC
Wow!!!!!!!
did that game have a championship feel or what. They
overcame adveristy at every turn to get the win, that
is a makeup of a true winner. I swear this team is
going to give me an ulcer.

I
have severely damaged my nervous system tonight. Met
a Sacramento native at NYC's ESPN Sportszone (easy
to recognize when a Kings' game is on). We were bouncing
off walls the entire game. Promised I will go to church
tomorrow if it went in as Peja was driving with the
go ahead floater. That means I have to shave and dress
nicely. I will scare some people at work for sure.

I
Love This Team
Bo
Kimble
How
do you not love this team?
My
son asks me a lot, who is my favorite King? I lean
towards Pollard, but tell me . . . Bobby Jackson,
Hedo, C-Webb, Jason, Vlade, Peja, Jon Barry . . .
even the guys who don't play.
Unbelievable.
This team is amazing. I'm out of breath.
These
guys are crazy.
I
had an earlier post today . . . Jon Barry would be
a big key. A couple three's and some energy. I hate
it when I'm right.
Speaking
of right, cQ, he's been right on Turkoglu all year
long. Nice call.
This
is so much fun.
In
fact I could see Webber mouthing "I'm coming
back." into Vlades ear after the game.
(of
course I'm kidding, but winning these games in this
fashion, he's got to)
One
last note: Tim Duncan is a man.
Great
win. Go Kings.
God
has finally smiled upon us Kings fans. Has this year
been one incredible ride? Unbelivable.
I
mean, most of us used to be on the SacBee board, wondering
who would be a better first round pick, Derek Anderson
or Olivier St. Jean.
Now
look at us.
I'm
so proud to be a Kings fan. We've lived thru the Olden
Polynice years, the Dick Motta years, the Bill Russell
years.
I'm
just . . . heck, this team has HEART and COURAGE and
everything else.
I
NEVER, EVER, EVER would've thought that this franchise
could've accomplished what it has this year. At least
not in my lifetime.
Thank
you Geoff Petrie, thank you Joe and Gavin. Thank you
Chris Webber. Thank you Kings.

New
Rule Changes
parso
Actually
Zone might be good for the Kings. To beat a zone you
usually need three things: Good sharp shooters who
will punish the zone. Another obvious thing is having
penetration to force the zone to collapse. If they
collapse punish with Pedja Jwill DC and Hido. However
I think having big men who can shoot from midrange
is key also. Usually against a well played zone we
could give the ball to Vlade or Cwebb around the free
throw line. Their ability to turn and shoot will cause
the opponents frontline to react opening things up
for back cuts. I think and its only my opinion that
this rule will help the Kings. They will have the
man power to stop Shaq inside and it will be tough
to play zone on us... just my humble opinion

Numbers
and Such
Critic
I
didn't see the game, but I found the box score pretty
informative beyond just documentation of the contributions
of CWebb and Peja and the contributions of BJ, all
of which were picked up in the AP report on the game.
First, the Kings outrebounded the Spurs 59-58. That
says a lot, especially considering the opponent. Second,
Vlade stepped up and had a heck of a game against
the twin towers. Third, despite going into OT, no
Kings starter played more than 41 minutes, which says
RA remembered in the heat of battle that he would
need some legs in Dallas too. Fourth, Jason had FIVE
steals, 9 Assists and 4 t/o's and took only 6 shots,
2 of which were 3's. Those numbers say he was distributing
the ball, playing under control and working on D --
in other words, being the PG they need him to be.
Fifth, the Spurs guards didn't have big stats, which
suggests Christie and BJ were getting help from Jason
on D. The Spurs need their guards to bomb away to
open up the inside for the big guys. When their guards
are controlled, then it becomes a real war for them
inside -- they can still win, but they really have
to bust their butts to do it.
While
I realize the Kings' season would have continued even
if they had lost last night, I think the Kings really
needed to win THAT game. It secured the Texas win
they needed to hold off the Lakers just by winning
their last 3 (against a decent team they "own"
and 2 bad teams). It makes the Dallas game one that
is about FIRST seed chances, not a nail biter needed
for the 2d seed. IMO, they'll be looser vs Dallas
(in the good sense of looser) because of the win.
Even if they lose to Dallas, that one win in Texas
keeps the Phoenix game from being one where they could
start sensing the bottom falling out. IMO, it frees
their minds to handle those last 3 games easily, while
two Texas losses could have really put a dent in their
confidence.
Winning
a big game in OT with CWebb watching may also have
a positive impact on RA considering multiple end-of-game
options instead of just running every possession through
CWebb. IMO, their best end of game 1/2 court scenario
on offense has Jason getting the ball to Peja for
a shot, with CWebb and Vlade crashing the boards for
a rebound if Peja misses. I still remember the championship
Bullets team, in clutch possessions at the end, going
not to its acknowledged star (Elvin Hayes) but instead
to its coolest guy under pressure (Bobby Dandridge),
with E and Wes crashing the boards in case Bobby D
missed. We all immitate what we've seen work. Reading
that Divac and and CWebb at different times have told
Peja to keep firing even if "cold" is a
big positive for Peja's confidence and his sense of
his role on the team -- and it shows CWebb and Vlade
care more about the win than their own personal glory.
Think anyone on the Blazers ever said that to Wells?
Think Shaq ever said it to Kobe?
