It Must Be
The Shoes...
Fireplug

J-Will had another dominating game from the point spot. You get the feeling that Nike came to Jason before the playoffs began and said, "Ok, according to the contract for your new sparkling shoe, it says right here in Article 5, Subsection 3-b that You must drive to the basket at least 3.2 times per game, must make at least two three's with 22 seconds left on the clock from normal distance and must make one three pointer from insane distance for you to get your bonus."

"You're wearing the Amethyst Slippers.  You can bring the series home any time you wish.  Just click your heals together three times, drive to the hoop and say There's no place like Arco."

What ever it is, though, keep it up Jason. You are unstoppable when you put your mind to it. (And speaking of shoes, did you see that after Brandon of the Wolves slipped 5 times in his new contract shoes, he wouldn't blame it on them.  )

C-Webb had another good game. He had a few offensive fouls called on him and turned the ball over in crunch time, but for the most part stepped up when we needed a big play or rebound.

I think we need to start refering to our starting two guard as Dougs (plural) because I swear that guy is in three places at once on defense. He got his hands on so many balls in the crunch that you would think the ball was made of iron and his mits were made of magnets. And those three's he hit to ice the game. He has really come into his own on this team and I would eat a bug if he leaves next year as a free agent (though we are going to have to pay through the nose to keep him).

Good Morning Kings Fans
Reno Lady

Interesting article in today's SacBee about the noontime game starts and how poorly the Kings have played in those games. If they hope to win a championship this is a hurdle they MUST get over and today would be a good day to start. Early to bed, early to rise has to be their creed for games like today's. They need to have a night practice before these games, say 7-9 so that they're too worn out to stay up late. Either that or mandatory cold showers for all before they put their uniforms on!

Forgot to mention something I saw on tv at the end of the last game that I enjoyed. They showed a shot of Webb and Pollard together & Pollard had his arm draped around Webb's shoulder/neck area; a great shot of 2 guys who apparently are pretty comfortable with each other and care about one another. The closeness of this team really comes through when you see things like that.

NBC Jerks and Freethrows
Ken

I don't know who those NBC play-by-play people are, but one thing for sure is that they are all pro-Suns. They were so obviously rooting for the Suns that it became really frustrating listening to them. When Tony Delk made that long 3-pointer late in the 4th Q, those commentators were like all screaming in estacsy.

Hmm... I still think Doug Collins and Bill Walton as the best commmentators, most objective, no bias.

Well, let me add this, as long as they don't put in Bob Costas in a Kings game, I should be happy.

I think one of the keys to today's win was the free throws. I am so glad that our big fellows were making their foul shots. 82.9% FT as a team. Christie unexpectedly missed 3 of 8. Webber made 9/12, Divac 2/2, Pollard 2/3, and Peja 11/12.

And FT is exactly what killed the Suns. Only 70.4% as a team. And the most hated Cliff Robinson shot a beautiful 2/8 from the line and hurted them big time down the stretch.

In order to maintain dominance in the paint, our front court MUST continue to make their FT (especially Webber and Divac).

Kings Reflect Suns
OhSC

Hedo got a *huge* rebound at the end there.

My fav glimpse was Jason blowing by Kidd whilst bringing
up the ball. On the ensuing Suns posession, Kidd was a' puffin'!

Cliff finally came unglued, but don't look for him to do it again!

On the other hand, don't look for the Kings to cough up the ball twenty-sumpthin' times; they can and should continue to force the Suns (little)bigmen to foul.

Oh my, that was a fun game!

Hard not to get light headed but still one to go!
el donut

I admit to being stoked. But in spite of this victory, we still have to tend to business with the Suns on Wednesday. After that win, then we can whoop and holler 'till we're hoarse. Should it go to game five at home, our agony will be drawn out a little longer. Hoping the Kings can deliver the final KO in game four, sparing us the drama. Our hearts deserve a break.

So I wasn't the only one with heart problem during the Game
Ocean

After the first quarter I had no hope for the Kings today. Yes, I know they have great come-backs. But I wasn't expecting one today. I was so nervous, I finished 2 bowls of popcorn as I watched the game. Great victory. I just hope C-Webb watches game 2's tape before Wednesday and tries to play the same way. Hedo - good defense, good rebounds as usual. BUT HE HAS TO PUT THE BALL IN THE BASKET!

Kings Fun to Listen to, Too
Piston JW

Really glad to listen to a great game from here. Grant Napear is just so fun to listen. Christie! What a boy! What a great move by Petrie! He started the game with a statement dunk over Jason Kidd and finish this game with his huge 3 pointer. He's just too good for the Suns!

Hope the players get a good rest, and Finish it out in Phoenix Wednesday. Go Kings!!!

Jason
Wyo

I have cut the guy NO slack this year but he gets my vote for game ball today. His numbers may not jump off the page but he took us from down to up in the 3rd.

I also though Hedo was huge. No numbers to speak of but he's almost as active as D-Man and someday the shot's gonna fall.

Webber still in my dog house. In love with that 18-footer today. In the 4th, he was getting the ball away from the basket only as a last resort -- I think his mates are saying, "Chris, we don't need that shot."

And, what in the world was my man, BJ, doing pushing the ball with 30 seconds left instead of running some clock?

If our guys don't stay out in the Sun too long, I see a solid thumping to close this out on Wednesday.

GO KINGS!!

Jason and Barry
JB

I don't think we'll ever see Jason turn his game on for more than a few minutes at a time - just as long as he does it at times like he did today. He started off the game going good and took his teammates to the lead late in the 3rd. I look forward to the day his defense is steady enough for him to do that late in the 4th quarter.

I thought Barry put in some key minutes. He was only on the floor for 8 minutes, but he hit both of his shots and was a key player in coming back from being down 17. If Hedo finds his shot again, the Lakers will have their hands full.
