Not
sure if anyone caught this but there was a reporter
from NY, sorry don't remember his name, that was interviewed
and fielded questions from the public on NBA TV last
night.
One
of the callers asked if C-Webb was going to go to
NYC. The reporter said something to the effect of
"don't get your hopes up." He said the ONLY
way possible would be if Allan Houston and probably
Marcus Camby came to Sac-town with a sign and trade
but Houston has already refused to come here. He also
said that Sac could pay Webber the most.. but we all
know that. He said Sac might trade him for Sprewell
but we all know Sprewell would refuse that! Hell I
think the only reason Webber wants to go to NYC in
the first place is to play with him!
Anyway
he said expect EVERY team in the NBA to call us for
the sign and trade and the last thing Jeff would take
would be some more outside shooters :-) Makes me feel
a little better about him not going to NYC, now let's
just hope he stays here :-)

Wow.
I just looked at the clip from the Laker/Blazer game
and how two Lakers clearly came off the bench, AND
ONTO THE COURT!
I
really thought it would be less clear than that.
The
question is; can the NBA still fine and suspend the
Lakers for that? I don't see why not. That is ridiculous
when compared to the McBaby incident.
Good
job Plug and other to dig up that clip. I still don't
understand why there wasn't any complaints from the
Blazers on that one. I mean, if a bunch of Bleacher
Mobsters can sleuth that one....
Ken
C'mon
folks, it does not matter what the facts are and how
evident it is, the leagus is NOT going to penalize
the Lakers. The Lakers are the rich fans favorite
and therefore the league's favorite.
Same
thing here with the players leaving the bench issue,
Remember when Shaq made the basket AFTER the buzzer
to beat the Grizzlies by 1 pt earlier in the season:
the Grizz filed an official complaint saying that
the shot was after the game clock, but the league
came up with the excuse that the ball hit the rim
and the shot clock should have been reset and there
fore Shaq's put back beat the shot clock. The league
has forgotten that the pts should be voided as long
as the shot is after the game clock, it wouldn't matter
if there are 1 or 24 seconds on the shot clock. It
is a solid evident that the league favors the Lakers
in all aspects.

That's
a different camera angle than what NBC showed Sunday
morning. I was taping that. The angle they had was
closer, and showed a direct shot of the Laker bench
with Grant, Fox, and Harper in his suit all sitting
down. Then Grant and Fox jumped up and took 2-3 steps
onto the court. I couldn't see Grant's face well,
but his #54 was clear as day. Fox I recognized by
the hair. Fox is to Grant's left.
NBC
then quickly cut the shot off. But it's plain as day.
The
League can't say that the scuffle didn't amount to
a real fight because Horry didn't get any hits on
Davis, because they suspended Augmon for being on
the court. So it must have been within their definition
of a fight.
I
wonder if Blazer fans weren't even watching the game
by then. It was pretty horrible.
Ken,
yes I remember Shaq's foul and basket after the time
ran out in the Grizzlies game.
I
also remember Shaq bodily picking up a ref and throwing
him off because the ref was trying to keep Shaq from
taking a swing at Malone. No foul, no penalty, no
fine.
I
also saw Steve Francis at ARCO tap a ref as he was
going by, kind of a "hey! Wrong call!" kind
of reaction, barely touched him, and he got a technical.
His next technical for taunting got him tossed from
the game.
More
oddities in the world of NBA officiating.

Did
anyone notice how at the end of the Spurs game last
night the announcers stated that the Spurs are a little
leary of the Lakers due to the fact that they are
getting so much rest after sweeping the Blazers? That
really bothered me. Don't the Spurs have to play the
Mavs or the Jazz and the Lakers have to face the Kings
or the Suns? How can they be so irresponsible?

It's
been a few days since i've posted but it feels like
an eternity!!! Loved reading all of your asessments
about the Big Win. It's a good thing I taped that
game because I just couldn't enjoy it at the time,I
was so nervous! Anyway, in my topic I mentioned the
NBA, and I think Bonsy (our own investigative reporter)is
on to something here. Isn't anybody going to call
the NBA on this? It's just so obviously unfair and
inconsistent. I heard Stu Jackson on Napear's show
and he tried to sound like the NBA has its act together,
but they don't. This is a blatant case of favoritism
or incompetence- or both! However, I did not hear
any Blazer fans protesting it, nor the organization
itself. Also, I've also seen the irritating, condescending
Scott Howard-Cooper's name mentioned here a few times.
The guy drives me nuts, and I'm glad I'm not the only
one. When and if we do get to the second round vs.
the Lakers, how is this already biased man going to
portray that series? I think he should excuse himself
from Bee duty as he is too closely associated with
the Lakers to be viewed as fair or unprejudiced by
kings fans. He's on that lame "NBA Insiders"
show on KHTK every Saturday, and I'm always waiting
for someone to call up the show and blast him. Maybe
I will!
Peja
vs. Marion
Milos
I'd
give Peja A+ for most aspects of his game but not
for shooting. 17-47 is just terrible and is the only
reason I said I am still waiting for his 'A' game.
His shooting might have been better with some more
shots and plays designed to free him, but he also
missed open shots. He had great offensive rebounds,
bravely drove to the basket, drew fouls and was perfect
from the FT line. 0 assists is also an interesting
stat - might be a result of Marion's defense and Kings
not wanting to go through Peja too much, but that's
just me guessing again.
Reno
Lady
What
brought down Peja's shooting was that first game when
Marion smothered him but notice that in the next 2
games Peja's done a great job shooting-he figured
out what he was doing wrong or he went to the coaches
& asked and then he did what they said. All season
long whenever Peja's had a problem he's recognized
it, analyzed, then fixed it, either on his own or
by asking for help. He wants to be the best he can
be and that's a mark of a one-day great player, not
just good, but great - willing to recognize his weaknesses
and work on them to make them better. As far as no
assists you have to keep in mind that Phoenix leads
the league in forced turnovers and Peja doesn't handle
the ball as well as the other starters (and he's pretty
good so that says a lot for the other guys) so they're
just playing smart ball by not upping their chances
of even more turnovers. Peja's assist record during
the season was pretty good.
