for
Peja, this would have been an ugly blowout. Forget
how Chris, Doug and BJ played in the 4th. If it wasn't
for Peja, they would be sitting on the bench and watching
Fundy, Hido and DMart in the fourth. Peja certainly
would not be able to win the game alone and others
had to be involved (just like it happened in the 4th),
but if he is the only one scoring, why do you try
to ruin everything by ignoring him for a couple of
minutes and making others force their shots and keep
missing?
It
was obvious that Peja was the only one capable of
scoring through the most of the game and yet I was
surprised to see Webb and others waste time holding
the ball and when Peja gets open they would not pass
the ball to him. I was constantly repeating "Give
the frigging ball to Peja!!!". I'd like to see
his points/possesions statistics. Chris may be the
regular season MVP but now he is obviously not able
to play at the same level. He took 27 shots !?!?!?
If they are not falling, don't force them for crying
out loud! Kings must adjust their game and make Peja
the primary weapon if they plan to beat the Lakers.
I don't expect Peja to average 30 points in that series,
but he must get more possessions and let him decide
whether to shoot or pass. It's not like he can't make
some assists as well.
I
don't want this post to sound like I am complaining
too much - Kings have done a very good job so far
but I want them to go further and that will be very
difficult if they don't sit down, take another look
at how they played this series and see which things
need improvement.
Loved
hearing the "Beat LA" chants in the game's
final moments
Lots
of stuff...just happy and proud!

Man,
I just stopped partying. Aced my final, ran home,
and caught the 2nd half of the game -- YEAAHHH!
First,
congrats to all of us loyal Kings fans that have really
felt the pleasure and pain involved in rooting for
this team over the Sacramento era. I was just a boy
when they moved here, and feel as though I've grown
up with the team. I was so proud to see Kings fans
at America West Arena tonight, this is what makes
us special, unique. We -- Kings fans -- are a select
breed, like say Scot Pollard: types that stand out
because what makes us different is character, loyalty,
and endurance.
Secondly,
in regards to the commercial issue, I think JWILL's
Nike commercial (with the stylized dribbling &
sound mix), coupled with CWEBB's NBA 2001 commercial
(with the midget strapped to his back) is more entertaining,
comedic, and creative than any -- Italian Kobe or
Nestle Crunch Shaq -- commercial out there. All those
that say the Lakers are more commercially viable than
the Kings are right, but when the Kings dominate the
Lakers in round 2 that all will change.
I
love our chances --
1.
We are the underdogs
2.
This is a SEVEN game series
3.
The Lakers are overconfident
4.
The Kings have one both of their playoff road games
5.
There is no way Fox can guard Peja
6.
Our bench is deeper and better than LA's
7.
We have the best fans in the NBA
8.
Bo Jax + J Will > Fischer + Lou
9.
The monkey is off the Kings back
10.
No pressure to succeed
11.
Pollard will strike again, and earn even more national
respect.
12.
Christie = all defensive 2nd team
13.
Although the Kings lost the series 3-1, both teams
are seperated by 10 regular season points.
14.
Oh yeah, and Kobe's ribs are bruised HA HA HA!!!
Congrats
to the Kings
Critic
Long-suffering
Kings fans have been justly rewarded with a playoff
series win. The Kings defended their 3 seed and now
have a chance to face their demons vs the Lakers.
Only saw the last 1/2, so they looked good to me last
night. CWebb was having a dreadful shooting night,
but he was playing inside (in the 1/2 I saw anyway).
He and ALL of the Kings were boxing out on the defensive
boards better than I can remember seeing before. He
will have to look long and hard to find other teammates
who can carry him when he starts off 2-20 or whatever
it was. From a basketball perspective, he would be
nuts to leave the Kings. Pollard certainly got some
well-deserved props from Big John and Li'l Danny.
I don't remember ever seeing Pollard look that confident.
He just KNEW it was his night when he called for the
ball and sank that little jump hook from the paint.
Peja wasn't just scoring from all over the place,
he also was playing good D vs Marion. I still remember
his defense from late 1999 and it's hard to believe
a guy can get from there to here (an above-average
NBA SF defender). It appears to me that the Kings'
first option at the end of big games may be shifting
from CWebb to Peja. !
Kings-Lakers
Jeremydb26
Stephen
Smith (sp) is on Fox Sports radio right now. They
just asked him will the Kings challenge the Lakers
or will this just be another road stop on the way
to the Spurs. Smith said the Kings - Lakers series
is going to seven games because the Kings match up
well. He did criticize the Kings for celebrating a
little too much and that their wild celebration showed
a little immaturity on their part. That is probably
true - the Kings are immature. But when you haven't
won a playoff series in 20 years and have only one
player and a coach who has advanced beyond the first
round, I guess they do have some maturity issues.
Nonetheless, it is nice to hear an NBA "expert"
not discount the Kings.
Although
I am a recent fan, I am really excited about what
this team has achieved. I just really hope the Kings
examine themselves and not get down 15 to 20 points
to the Lakers as they did the Suns. The Kings will
not have an inside presence against the Lakers. Also
remember that Horace Grant has always done a good
job shutting down CWebb. Fox and Fischer have really
stepped up lately and are playing well. I hope RA
comes up with a good game plan to beat the Lakers.
Without a doubt the Kings will have to push the ball
and penetrate and make Shaq run the floor. In a halfcourt
game, the Lakers have a big advantage. I can't wait
to get this one started! Go Kings!
JB
This
should be a real interesting series coming up. Believe
or not, the Kings should be looking forward to getting
a break from the Suns defense. Yes, I said it. The
Suns defense has been very good all year. They really
didn't outscore their opponents, they forced turnovers
and swarmed on defense. Their offensive field goal
pct was in the low 40s all season long, so winning
51 games was mostly due to their abilities to defend
and force their opponents to turn the ball over. While
the Lakers have finally got their act togther on offense,
they still are an average defensive team. What they
will try to do is slow the tempo down and force the
Kings to be patient on offense much like the last
regular season matchup at Arco. The Kings need to
rebound well and force an fast tempo. That will get
Kobe's juices flowing and take away Shaq's effectiveness.
How
to Take Zebras Completely Out of the Picture
Wyo
Kings
are a better team than the Lakers. Be aggressive.
Make Shaq make a fool of himself.
Throw
Fundy or even Nick on Fox early and do to him what
he will be trying to do to Peja and others. No touch
fouls -- Fox gets hot pretty fast.
Refs
are human but I don't believe the conspiracy stuff
-- except -- they are uniformly bad in allowing Shaq
to throw his weight around.
If
the Kings play with confidence, the Zebras will have
to thoroughly shame themselves and the league to give
the series to LA. These are the games in the national
spotlight next round.
GO
KINGS!!
Wyo
- the remaining South Carolina fan :-)
Peja
JB
I
hate to put more pressure on the kid, but Peja will
be a huge key in this series. I think Webber will
struggle a bit with Ho Grant since he isn't healthy.
Putting it all on Webber would be unwise and unfair.
Rick Fox will try to rough up Peja again just to see
if he goes off on him. That's really the only think
Fox can do since there is zero chance that he can
guard him straight up. You might even see Ron Harper
play Peja. After 4 games of seeing Marion, Peja should
have a big smile on his face.
The

"When
comparing the difference in the game of Hedo and Peja
he came up with the term that really describes Peja.
He is the "Artist". "
Yes
that was exactly the difference between Jordan and
Pippen too. I was wondering what it would be like
if Chicago would bring Barkley at Jordan era. I suppose
we will see it in the years to come; our Big Three
will be Jordanesque Peja, Pippenesque Hedo and One-of-a-kind
Webber.
JB,
I was thinking just like you about Peja being the
key to the lakers series. And while I was reading
the yesterday's posts, I thought that maybe Kobe-child
may be put on Peja. As we all know the second most
nonsense selection to the second best defensive team
is Kobe, Doug being the first. He is the best defensor
in the league.
Breakout
Year ..
Bawsor
With
due respect to James Cameron, we are the Kings of
the world!! And comes Sunday, we will give the Los
Angeles Lakers a royal spankin' to remember.
It
has been a breakout year for the Kings, Webber, and
Peja. Sweeping the Suns on the road was a watershed
event. It definitely pushes us to upper echelon of
the food chain.
I
always felt that the Suns' was the pivotal series
because of all the pressure. (In fact, the first game
loss was so difficult I decided to take a hiatus from
posting.) The Lakers' series should be less pressured,
which makes us the more dangerous. I really like our
chances. The team has so much resiliency and character
that I cannot envision them losing the series.
The
Win
Doc
It
is so strange to to watch a Kings game, be down by
double digits, and not be worried about the outcome.
Years gone by, we saw lots of those double digit deficits
and they would just keep growing until the final buzzer
would put a merciful end to our misery. For most of
this season, those big leads by Kings opponents had
me concerned and switching from TV to radio (I just
couldn't watch!), but through this playoff series
the concern was replaced with confidence. I'm amazed
and awed at how resilient the Kings are. It is great
to be a part of this wonderful, winning season and
I'm glad to have the great Kings "family"
on this board to share it with.
Very
Special

Hit
the game at ARCO with my three sons. Wife met us later,
but left with the two youngest (the toddler is a little
sick) after the 1st qtr. So it was just me and my
oldest (who I've coached in b-ball since he could
dribble). It was a very special father/son expierence
that I wouldn't have traded for the world. He was
just blown away at the excitement of 8,000 ARCO faithful
whooping and hollaring with every basket, every stop,
and every rebound. Slapping skin with people you have
never met and witnessing history in the making.
Leaving
the arena as thousands poured out into the cool nite
chanting "Beat LA!" he said, "Now I
can say I was there."
Yes,
you can my boy.
Even
while walking through the parking lot we were surrounded
by yelling fans, honking horns, and Kings flags waving
in the air. It was great.
All
the way home people behind, in front, and beside us
were honking thier horns, hanging out the windows,
and hamming it up ARCO style. My son loved it.
After
getting home we stayed up to watch all the post game
stuff and called it a nite an hour later.
Freaking
awesome.
hey,
phil, whut does yo' reckon of th' Kin's?

"Ah

They pow'ful haf a bunch of goofy guys thet injoy

Why
do these sites still put Carter on front page????
I've been waiting for them to change it to Peja!!!
Carter
only had 32pts yesterday and the Raptors havn't even
advanced yet! Are his 32pts more important than Peja's
37, which help the Kings advance to the 2nd round?????
Talk
about favorism and NBA's darling!!!
Oh,
someone just reminded me that Carter has a couple
of TV commercials going on currently.. Nike, Gatorade,
sound like big time income sources and sponsorships....
And
Peja's only one is a "no-smoking" ad, which
isn't even on very often.
No
wonder.
OMG..
someone just reminded me that there are currently
a lot of Adidas TV commercials featuring Kobe Bryant
during the playoffs.
One
he playing ball with a couple of other guys in his
own gym speaking Italian, one he was wearing black
driving a motor cycle, one he wearing suit and nice
shoes waiting for something next to some stairs, and
one he sitting under a arch-like structure leading
to a garden talking about his philosophy.
(Oh,
a Carl's Jr. commercial where he is in the locker
room shooting the burger wrapping paper into a trash
basket, too.)
Scenario:
A Spurs/Kings WCF on NBC and TNT with Kobe Bryant
commercials during timeouts???????? What's the odd
for that to happen?
NBA
has 2 choices: 1)Make sure the Lickers get in WCF,
or 2)Cancel those commercials. Go figure.
*SNIFF*
OhSC
Heh,
Phfffffhil-the-pill Jackson... if any dogs were
around,
they'd be a' sniffin' him; you KNOW what dogs
*always*
sniff first, and he's the biggest one around!
Whal,
seven in a row red, prob'ility would be about .054
wouln't it? Math Guy?
It's
time for the Kings to get hot! Peja's leading the
way with his reversion to form last night. Lakers
have been, as Rome-the-Dome sez (just on my way to
campus, a few minutes worth/day) dominant for several
weeks now; well, that can unwravel(sp?) in a hurry!
Heh,
Kings ought to be real comfortable for some time now,
as they no longer have to *create* their favoured
UnderDog role, then succeed. They *are* the UnderDog!
Down with the OverCats!
AAAAAAAAaaaaaaahhhah-aaaaahha-aaaaha,
UnderDog,
