The
Kings just keep coming, no matter what, they don't
give up, they don't go away, and they can score so
many points so fast that it demoralizes the opponent.
They're younger, faster, and better ball handlers
than the Lakers - and - they have the best record
in the league of coming back and winning a game after
a loss. So yes, not only CAN the Kings upset the Lakers,
they've ALREADY upset the Lakers, just by advancing
to Round 2.

Why
does he have to do it? I think it diminishes his stature
as a great coach, in my eyes. At least wait until
a game is played before you start taking pot-shots
at the other team. And the funny thing about it is
it doesn't even really work! The object is to deflect
scrutiny/attention away from his own team, but the
media still wants to know what's going on with Shaq
and Kobe,how they're feeling,and what they're thinking
just as much as ever! So what's the point of carrying
on the charade? I think it's really all about him.
This 'mind games' thing has become his trademark as
a coach. It's something that sets him apart from the
rest. So I really don't think it has that much to
do with getting into the Kings heads or it being a
decoy for his own team. It's done to add to his legend
as the super-smart,"thinking" coach, and
I'm glad that Rick Adelman said as much the other
day!

The
Kings just keep on coming. There is no way Phil wanted
to see the Kings. And the Laker fans and all their
bravado did not want to see the Kings. But the true
basketball fan wanted this series. Fresh off their
sweep of the (mighty?) Blazers, Phil, the Lakers and
their fans think they have the league by it's tail
only this tail has rattles on it. Phil is smart enough
(maybe) to know this might be his last chance. The
Kings just keep on coming. This young team will be
better next year and the year after that while except
for Kobe the Lakers are aging like stale beer. They
had all they could handle with last years Kings. The
Lakers say they are better. Where? The many ways the
Kings are better jumps out at Phil like an orange
sunshine flashback....
Are
we Contented COWS??
Bawsor
Should
we be ecstatic with 55 wins??
Should
we euphoric with a first-round win over the Suns?
Should
we be elated to have an MVP candidate?
Or
..
Should
we be furious that we lost the Pacific division and
the homecourt to the Lakers on the waning days?
Should
we be seething at the referees for their blatant favoritism?
Should
we be livid at NBA for treating the Lakers as untouchable
sacred cows?
Can
we look at the mirror and say the season is a success
if we lose the the Lakers?
Is
it our goal to win the first-round, and then roll
over and have Laker step all over us??
Sacremento
Kings, you have paid your dues for 30 years. Now is
the time to go out and do it.
Crush
the Lakers!!

With
regards to how the Kings and/or us feel about the
season so far, I'd like to digress with a small story.
My
daughter was heavily involved in roller skating in
the 70s and 80s. To get to the national championships,
you had to place (first, second, or third) in your
regional championships (there's about 15 of them).
The thing was, our regionals were the largest skating
contest in the world, over 1300 skaters. Our daughter
competed in her division with over three hundred other
girls. The odd part of all of this was that all of
her focus was on regionals; nationals wasn't even
considered. The first year she finally won out and
went to nationals, that was kind of a letdown event.
She really didn't apply or focus on nationals; it
had all been spent on regionals.
The
problem is, the rest of the nation could care less
about our regionals; its what you do at nationals
that anyone pays attention to. It wasn't until after
that first time that out daughter started treating
regionals as a simply a contest in which she had to
place to get to nationals, which was the real focus.
I
think you see where I'm going with this. I'm worried
that the Kings (and we fans, for that matter) have
focused too much on the first round, rather than the
championships. Sure, we've all given lip service to
winning the NBA championship, but deep down I thing
we've all been more worried about the first round
"tree" instead of the finals "forest".
A
Taste of Basketball Heaven
John114AAA
What
a treat to have the Kings in the 2nd round of the
playoffs. Basketball heaven, in my mind, is to be
in the Finals and to win it all. What we will be getting
in the 2nd round is a little taste of heaven. I think
the team and definitely we Kings' fans are going to
love it so much that we come back for more and more.
There are many reasons why I believe that the Kings
will be in Basketball heaven soon:
-
The Kings have the 2nd youngest top 8 players in the
NBA.
-
The Kings have several players who are already good
and still improving (Peja, Scot, Jason, Bobby, Hedo
and even C-Webb).
-
The Kings have owners who will do what it takes to
win but not interfere with basketball opertations.
-
The Kings have a general manager who do what is necessary
to improve the team without destroying chemistry and
who is capable of picking gems in the draft.
-
The Kings have a coach who treats the players with
respect and allows them to make mistakes without putting
them down.
-
The Kings have bench players who understand their
role and accept and even thrive in that role.
-
The Kings have stars who understand the team concept
and who share the ball and look to make their team
better through an extra pass.
-
The Kings have fans who will support them under any
conditions, unconditional love.
Yes,
a taste of heaven is here and the gates are opening
for the Kings.
Are
we ready for the game?

I'm
so excited about tomorrow's game. I live in Pennsylvania
where not many seem to care about the Kings. It is
anoying not to have a mob around to watch Kings games
with and share the excitement. I am hopeful about
tomorrow's game, though. I think this time C-Webb
will try to play his best. Lakers have several star
players. I think Webber will do all he can to show
that he can match up with them. As to the other players,
I have no doubt their motivation is at its peak.
After
the last game against the Suns Kenny Smith said something
about the anguish Kings had to go through because
of some players in the past, and he went on naming
a few. I wasn't acquainted with the Kings in the past
and didn't understand what he was referring to. I
thought maybe one of you could clarify it for me?
And
finally, GO KINGS GOOOOOO!!!
The
Power
jsotelo
Phil
and crew are worried but IMO that makes them dangerous.
The Kings are motivated, hungry and happier with their
win than L.A. is with theirs, that makes them dangerous.
The
fact of the matter is it seems when the Kings win
vs the Lakers they destroy them and when the Lakers
when against the Kings they just win. The Kings have
the power to beat them plain and simple. The question
is will they.
Predictions
are just that nobody knows what is going to happen.
Kings in 6 and don't be surprised if we win the first
and possibly second game in L.A.
Physics
101
Bawsor
Based
on my Physics 101 calculations, I am coming up with
theset results. Here are my (humble) predictions:
Game
1: Based on the Law
of Inertia,
the Kings eked out a 92-90 win over the Lakers at
Staples, as the lethargic Lakers could not overcome
the long layoff.
Game
2: Based on Newton's
Law of Gravity,
the Lakers romped over the Kings 105-90 at Staples,
as the Kings fell back to earth.
Game
3: Based on the Law
of Quantum Physics,
the Kings returned the favor and crushed the Lakers
102-90 at Arco, as the Kings fed off the enormous
quantum energy from the home crowd.
Game
4: Based on the Law
of Momentum,
the Kings eked out another winner 90-88 at Arco.
Game
5: Based on the Law
of Entrophy,
the Lakers finally unravelled at Staple, giving the
Kings a 90-85 win, and the series at 4-1.
Further
Prediction: After the series, the Lakers traded Kobe
to the Knicks for Houston and Camby.
Final
Prediction: Webber re-signed with the 2000-2001 NBA
CHAMPS, the Kings!!
OSC's
keys to the game
OhSC
(uhm,
from a KingsFAN POV):
Kings
will *have* to keep it close the first 1.5 quarters,
and not allow themselves to get rattled.
Kings
must do some runnin' as Reno and others have pointed
out; as I recall, Shaq was a' puffin' in the loss
at ARCO last season. That means that Scot's gotta
get some minutes.
Kings
have to find a way to get Shaq to foul... I mean get
*called* for fouls. <- that little round thing
is a period
Kings
have to establish and maintain offensive pressure.
That would involve shooting well, getting good shots,
and pounding away at weaknesses (every team has some
pally).
Kings
have to get a smidge of luck; the Gapers are a good
team.
Sioux,
thanks for the Phil history; kinda helps fill out
the picture... perspectively speaking.
It
is true that some coaches who aren't really very good
work with fine athletes that enjoy success; also true
that some very fine coaches never are recognized for
their contributions to the sport, community, and humanity
in general. Of course, there are infinite combinations
of the extremes as well. Phil musta done sumthin'
right. Thanks again.
Doesn't
mean that I like some of his comments though... on
the other hand, we don't know ALL of what he might've
said, nor the entire context... Let the game(s) begin!!
Kings
in LA
el
donut
Now
that we've gotten here let's believe that we have
a good chance to play some outrageous ball. Our encounter
with LA will be a good reality check for the Kings.
Seven possible games with Sacramento will define the
match up of these two teams. The big question is,
"Can Sacramento Do It?" I predict that Sacramento
will win game one. Just a feeling.
Predictions
Rochester
Royal
Simply
put, all these predictions are fun, but nothing more.
The playoffs crown their own champions; the game is
alive. I know in my heart that when the Kings take
court, the effort will be as a team and not in the
matchups. Why is team chemistry important? Laker Fan
is about to find out. Team chemistry is what drives
the very heart of effort and that is what drives the
month long monster we call the playoffs. It is NOT
about matchups, this is not about momentum. There
are hints throughout this forum and all over The Kingdom.
Where Purple Reigns, the effort of all of it's loyal
subjects flow with passion and cooperation. Who will
emerge a legend? It could be D-Mart stealing the ball
from Shaq. There is confidence in the unity of this
team, these fans, and The Kingdom. The chaos of the
NBA playoffs will bear out the ultimate champions,
but unity will provide the strength to withstand these
tests. There is but one certainty in the NBA, the
new champions will always be underdogs before they
win. The old champions will have only the fading memory
of overconfidence.
Derek
Anderson
Ken
Do
you think the Lakers are happy about Derek Anderson's
not being about to play ( not happy about that he
is hurt, but that he won't be in the WCF if Spurs
advance)?
We
as Kings fans are now talking about the Kings/Lakers
series, but I am sure many Lakers players and fans
are already looking forward to a Spurs/Lakers matchup
in the WCF. (Remember people here were talking about
Kings/Lakers before the Kings eliminated the Suns.)
Spurs
should still be able to beat the Mavs. And if, as
most people predicted, it is Spurs/Lakers in the WCF,
go figure what is going to happen.
My
point: with Anderson out, some Lakers fans must be
thinking that their team is already this year's champ.
