HAPLESS
OR HAPFUL

I think that without
Chris Webber, the Kings are about as good
as the Mavs.
So
I give us a 1/4 chance of reaching the third
round. This is not a good chance, and it
is hard to check my theory since we get
only one future path.
But
this may illustrate the futility of deep
soul searching about the Kings. As some
of you percieve, we lost to the Lakers last
year due to what? one shot (Horry's) that
had about a 1/2 chance of falling in (and
did). Or one shot of Peja's that had about
a 1/2 chance of falling out (and did). Is
Peja a flawed human, and Horry a gem because
of that? Are the King's losers because we
sometimes lose?
As
Clint Eastwood said one time, "We all
got it coming kid".
In
a week we will all be convinced that the
Kings are a miracle team (probability 1/4).
Or convinced that we are hopeless losers
(probability 3/4).
But
whatever fate befalls us, Peja, Mike, Bobby,
Doug and Hedo will spend much of the summer
practicing. Chris will do whatever he can
to become better. Practice his free throws,
Learn to play center, Convince Hedo to become
a power forward. I do not expect this team
to quit. And most of us will come to be
somewhat abashed by the negative things
we say tonight.
...
Although I must admit that I think I could
put together a team of friends who could
score 11 points in 12 minutes against Shawn,
Steve and Dirk. And I'll regret saying that
in the morning. |
