GAME
THREE
Fireplug
The
Kings played a remarkable game, but the team,
and Bibby especially, will have to learn how
to dribble through Kobe's and the rest of
the Lakers' grabbing arms, and block out even
with the constant over-the-back offensive
rebounds which the refs clearly are going
to allow. The grabbing, along with a three
pointer by Walker at the half which came after
time had expired, and a gift tip by Vlade
which went right to Horry who was hanging
outside instead of going in to rebound at
the final second was too much for the Kings
to overcome.
Would
being 3-1 have been sweet? Sure. But all tied
up with 2 of the next three at Arco is pretty
sweet, too. And the Kings should know that
luck evens out, and the Lakers have certainly
gotten more than their share now.

We
are all disappointed that this one slipped
away, but, then, it ain't over 'til it's over.
Still 3 more games to go. I knew that if the
Kings couldn't hold the Lakers at bay during
the 2nd half that the Lakers would grind and
grind and if they got it close, they could
do just what they did. For the Kings to have
won, Vlade would have to had made his free
throw that he missed and Christie also missed
one of two in the mid 4th. Put that on top
of the Horry 3 pointer after the buzzer at
the end of the 1st half that was allowed,
and the Lakers do it to the Kings.
I
am elated that the Kings made the Lakers and
all their fans sweat like pigs. LA was in
a deep funk because they were being abused
by the Kings in the prior 2 games. If you
call a 1 point margin win the best the defending
champs can muster on their home court, then
get excited. I still believe the Kings will
dethrone LA. Just watch and see. And to all
you Laker fans, congratulations on your narrow
escape. It won't be that easy back at Arco.

Had
the Kings made those missed FTs, - even 2
of them, the game would have been theirs.
They have no control over the refs screwups
but they do have control over what they do,
and those missed FTs cost them the game as
much as anything the Lakers did or the refs
did or didn't do.
The
Kings are far more resilient than the Lakers
and are basically playing better basketball
than the Lakers. If anything, losing by one
measly point is only going to prove to the
Kings that they're right in their thinking
that they can knock the Lakers off their perch.
But if the next game is close (and I don't
think it will be), I'll bet the Kings will
have some tight defense on Robert Horry the
last 20 seconds of the game.
I
understand that this time was a fluke, because
one of the Kings should have grabbed that
ball, or, if they were going to tip it, tip
it far enough back that it went into the backcourt.
But NEVER leave Horry alone at the end of
a close game.

My
heart sank all the way down to the floor when
Horry hit that 3-pointer. It was heartbreaking,
so CRUSHED is the right word that would described
most of us in here.
Before the game, I was more worried about
how the Kings play in this game more than
about them winning. I think they played a
good enough game to win. They did answer most
of the Laker's run and the way I look at this
game is that LA just got lucky.
I believe in this team. I predict a blowout
for the Kings Tuesday. They've responded every
single time when needed and I see no reason
to doubt that now.
GO
KINGS!
BEAT LA!
