AN
INDIANA PACER FAN'S REMEMBRANCES
Naptown
Menace
What
I'll miss about Brad. This is sort of my
Brad Miller appreciation thread. I'll really
miss the positive things he brought to the
Pacers.
1. His intelligence. Isiah said that Brad
was the smartest player on the team in terms
of basketball IQ. He made smart decisions
with the ball.
2. His passing. Next to Vlade and Shaq,
Brad was the best passing center in the
league. He could initiate the offense and
he's the type of big man you can run an
offense through. The Pacers are really going
to miss that. Pollard doesn't even begin
to compare in this regard.
3. His shooting. Brad was the best shooter
on the team. He was pretty consistent from
the field (49%) and at the free throw line
he was excellent (81%). He took the load
off of J.O. because he can knock down the
open 18 footer. We're not going to get that
from Pollard, Harrington, Foster, or Brezec.
Watch how often J.O. gets doubled now.
4. His toughness. He was one player on the
team that was truly tough. We'll miss his
post defense. Pollard gets thrown around
like a rag doll under the hole by the better
big men in the league. Remember J.O. has
had some of his best performances against
him. Brad's position defense is very underrated.
He keeps the big guys from getting to their
spot.
Those 4 things are going to hurt the Pacers.
I'm glad that we got something in return
for him but those 4 things won't be replaced
by anyone on the team. When the Pacers are
one of the worse FT shooting teams I'll
think of you Brad Miller. When guys swarm
J.O. with 2-3 guys because Foster or Pollard
are on the floor, I'll think of you. When
we're playing the Lakers or Spurs and Shaq
or Duncan is just throwing Pollard around
like a beach ball, I'll think of you big
fella. When Foster or Pollard are at the
FT line, I'll turn my head in shame and
then wish we had a Brad Miller on the squad.
I wish you the best Brad. You'll be missed.
I have a feeling you'll prove all the naysayers
wrong and wind up on the All-Star team next
year - in the west.
