IMPRESSION ON FANDEMONIUM
Kingsgurl
The
reports are all true, as far as how the guys look.
Hedo is NOTICABLY bigger, tho he doesn't seem to have
lost any quickness, not that I could tell during the
scrimmage anyway. Peja didn't play, tho I saw him
walking around on the court, and he looked fine, so
not sure what was up there. Maybe someone who listened
to the radio broadcast could fill me in on this?
They started out with the introductions, all the players
came out wearing the new shorts (road) and a black
warm-up that had the city they come from across the
back, Chris came out made a little speech about representing
where they are from, how now they are all united to
represent Sacramento, took off the warm-ups to reveal
the new road uni's, which do indeed, say Sacramento
now. (it actually looks GREAT, IMO)
Corsley was much more agile than I thought he would
be, considering he is such a wide body, had some nice
moves around the basket, and wasn't a bit shy about
using his weight to get in there.
Chen, I was also surprised by him. He had some real
strong moves to the basket, finished well, and was
better on the defensive end than advertised (he had
to guard GWall for a bit, and did a credible job,
considering Gerald has made some real strides in his
game, much more under control and still able to fly)
Sasser also played well, of the hopefuls.

I
don't recall seeing Brent Price at all, or hearing
him introduced, although I might have just missed
him, I suppose, but one can always hope. :)

I
wasn't able to stay for the whole deal, but Sasser
did look to be taking all of this seriously...even
caught him looking to the ref for a foul call
on an occasion or two...
Agree with you on Chen ... but on a side note,
did you happen to see him watching the little
hip-hop dancers? He looked confused! After they
had all left the floor, and the players were getting
ready to go back onto the floor, he finally did
applaud. I'm not sure if he had just figured out
that he was supposed to, or if he was just happy
to be getting back to doing what he was there
for...
I thought all of the players looked to be in great
shape. Vlade was in especially good humor - and
when asked how it felt to win the World Basketball
Championship, replied that it was great but didn't
feel as good as it is going to feel to win the
NBA championship this season! That's the spirit!!

On
Corsley Edwards let me add he seemed to have exactly
one move. Back into his defender down low, turn
and lope across the front of the basket, and flip
in a little left handed half-hook. That being
said, he was darned effective with it, and was
able to get it off at will. Keon made a couple
offensive moves that only a handful of guys could
make. Like going up behind the backboard with
the ball in the hand that was near the baseline,
then switching the ball to the other hand in mid
air and flipping it into the hoop. Fantastic block
from the backside to take away a dunk, too. He
WILL be fun to watch and it is incredible we got
a guy with such talent for nothing in return.
I liked Chen too. Nice outside shot, able to finish
around the hoop. Bibby burned him on defense though,
and that will be the thing to keep him out of
the NBA for now, if he doesn't make the squad.
