IN THE BOOKS
Reno Lady
Pretty good game by
the Kings although they got a little sloppy
in the 2nd half. If that had been a different
team, the Kings could have found themselves
in a much closer game. I
really like Brad Miller; the guy's a scrapper.
Down on the floor for loose balls, fights
for rebounds, mostly makes good decisions
with the ball, and generally does all the
little things that give the Kings an advantage
over their opponents. I
heard Laimbeer say the Kings had replaced
the Spurs as the "powerhouse"
in the West. When asked about the Lakers,
he sort of pooh-poohed them which I thought
was funny. I don't buy into that, but the
Kings, as long as the top 8 guys stay healthy,
will be there for the playoffs. After that,
who knows what will happen.
For
all the hype the 'Wolves have received so
far, they sure didn't look very good tonight
against the Nets. They're just out of sync
somehow. Maybe not having Wally and Troy
Hudson is hurting them, but something's
not right. Also
got to see some of the Grizzlies/Celtics
game. Jason played very well for 95% of
the game, but he'll hoist up those 3 pointers
on the fly sometimes. I'm sure Hubie Brown
has a little heart attack every time he
does it. BTW, Vin Baker had 25 points, 8
boards tonight. He's really looking like
the "pre-depression, pre-alchoholic"
Vin.
SWEEtness
I'm
so glad basketball season is here...FINALLY.
It feels good to have 2 Ws under the belt.
This game was fun to watch (though, I was
in and out parts of the time). Peja is looking
good...but he always does to me. I liked
what I saw from Vlade. I can only speak
from what I saw this game, but he looks
almost as ready to start the season as he
did 2 years ago. He must have been preparing
knowing that Webb would be out for a while.
I like Miller. He's a blue collar, get it
done, worker. Bobby Jackson still manages
to do the impossible.
Overall,
I'm feeling better about this season than
I did in the off-season. I was getting kinda
discouraged. I'm ready for the season to
get rolling...long road ahead, but always
a fun ride full of twists and turns...that's
why we all get on. You just never know what
might happen. Here's hopin' for the best
for the Kings. Go for the ring, baby!!
