FIRST TOUGH TRIP
IN THE BOOKS - TEAM GOES 2-2

As witnessed in the recent losses against Indiana and Orlando,
the Kings MUST play as a team by running their offense, and
MUST play hard every game in order to reach the prize
at the end of the long road.

MIAMI VS. KINGS

Reno Lady

FINALLY!! Seems like forever since the Kings won even though it's only been 2 games! I think the Kings need to put Christie on Gatling when he's playing, just have Doug switch off on the guy when the Kings are on defense. Peja finally got another 3 and then another shot right after that - and Christie came through with 2 threes as the end as well. I feel SOOOOO much better now!

Ok, a couple of days sleeping in their own beds and then the Raptors come to town - and they've been playing well, so hope our guys are up for them. Maybe the win tonight will still be fresh in their minds and they'll want to build on that.

Peja was perfect from the line tonight - and that's good because he was definitely off on his other shots although the 2 he hit at the end were great. I think he's probably exhausted, and rightly so.

This is interesting: Checked other scores a minute ago and with less than a minute to go the Warriors were up on the Knicks by 18 points! And the Wolves were taking it to the Bucks. Dallas also plays tonight, oh, and the Clips beat the Suns. Kidd's new team, however, is off to a 5-1 start, their best ever. Wonder if Coangelo is thinking he might have made a mistake?

Good. Kings win. 5-2 to start the year wiffout Webber ain't so bad. And the 2 losses were to decent teams and the Kings played really good at least at the beginning of those games. Can't wait to see the Tuesday game on TNT to see Pager dial in for 40pts.

Funny... that today was Lamar Odom bobble-head doll day at the Clippers game. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Whenever Vlade takes it upon himself to actually LEAD, instead of just cheerleading and trying to push leadership upon the team's star (whether it be Chris or Peja), the Kings are incredibly hard to beat, almost unbeatable. Conversely, when Vlade resigns himself to cheerleading and pushing leadership upon the star (Chris or Peja), instead of just leading by example and cheerleading, the Kings show their achilles heal and can lose, and tend to become dispersed late in the game. So, either Vlade needs to consistently lead while he cheerleads (regardless who else is in the lineup), or somebody else has to lead consistently.

The Kings are now 5-2.

I believe the Kings have six out the next seven games at ARCO; the lone road game being against the Lakers.

Any chance of an 8-0 win streak? (One can dream...)

Go Kings!

Whew! I don't think I've taken a breath in the last hour until now! GREAT game! AND...I'm going to say that Doug MEANT to hit that 3 pointer off the glass.

BTW...how did Pej get those scratches on his arm?

Good to see CWEBB. It's been so long, you have to remind yourself he really did re-sign with the Kings. LOL

Also, regarding the Season Prediction Contest.....I think that another question should be added....."In any one interview, what is the maximum amount of times CWebb will say the word "definitely"?

JB

Hmm, nothing wrong with the halfcourt defense. So one would have to believe that it is their transition defense which needs the most help. Good thing, because that should be easier to fix than a bad halfcourt defense.

Nice balance to the scoring tonight and welcome back Bobby! Peja couldn't shoot with a damn tonight, but lookie here: 22 points. The man can get to the line.

I also gotta say the refs were pretty good tonight. They didn't allow the Heat to hack away like a Pat Riley team usually does. The trips to the line really was the difference in the game.
And it helps if you hit them too.

MORE GAME NOTES...

Echoing the TV commentators; the bench made the difference tonight. Bobby played more like himself, Hedo was solid - and Lawrence was absolutely clutch. Just when I think it might be a good idea to trade him for somebody bigger, he comes in and scores, and rebounds and shuts down Gatling. Great win. Great record for the

Webberless Kings on the road during arguably one of the two toughest stretches of the season, schedule wise.

I'm very happy with the excellent team defense we played during the whole game too. We didn't score 100 points - but we held Miami to 75! Awesome deal.

Great game. .500 on the road is someting to be proud of.

That said, there's something that bothers me about the kings. They play a bit like a "bad team"....and by that, I mean that they expend a lot of energy in the first half of games.

Maybe it was just the Bulls, but teams used to play so hard against them.....sometimes they'd be down by 20 in the first half. They didn't really expend a lot of energy on D and seemed to use the 1st half to get a rythm.

Then in the 3rd quarter, they'd drop the defensive hammer and the transition points would flow. it was like 2 different games.

I noticed that the lakers do that too.

I guess I think they expend too much energy in the first half of games.

After a day "on the road" I got back to a Kings win. Checked the box scores and saw where Vlade played 46 minutes. As a King has he ever played thatb many minutes this early in the season? Sounds like he came into this season "in shape" like never before. Thanks Vlade!!

Remember, a win now counts as much as a win in May!

Kingme

Just a side note to the win...but is there a more obnoxious, annoying, irritant than the PA announce for the Heat??!! I don't know how many of you watched it on TV, but that guy was a freakin' circus act! It was deafening first of all, but then again, anything would echo loudly in a half-empty arena. I think it's arena production gimmicks like that that cheapen the sport of bball. It was so over the top, that it completely detracted from the game itself, and would be more at home at WWF or a roller rink!
