MORE FROM THE HAWKS GAME...
JB

The refs were fine. A few odd calls, but nothing out of the norm.
Christie comes up big with some clutch shots in the second half. Don't let the final score fool you, this was a pretty tight game. The Hawks made quite a few runs to ge the game close in the second half. They are getting a little better each game. Clark needs to learn to save his fouls for the second half. He had some silly fouls early, but stayed out of trouble in the second half.

Hedo had a bad night. Really didn't have anything going on offense. His defense on Robinson was better than Peja. Peja seems to play well early, then he struggles for the rest of the game.

Webber's offense looked pretty good tonight. The jumper was going and he got inside often. His rebounding was not great and his free throws are still very poor.

I thought Webber had a good game. I was surprised when I found out how many points he had because it didn't seem like he was shooting all that much. He also had some great blocks again, especially the one against Ratliff that ended up being a jumpball - and he actually outjumped Ratliff too.

Christie came through in the 2nd half thank goodness. He was 0 for however many in the first half and it sure looked like he was going to have another poor night offensively but all of a sudden his shot just started going in, and going in, and going in. Way to go Christie!

Bobby is better but still hangs onto the ball too long sometimes. He's not a good dribbler and turned the ball over late in the 4th because he wouldn't get rid of the ball and the Hawks pressured him until he gave up the ball. Why didn't he just pass the darn thing?

I don't think it's that Peja gets worse later in the game, it's that the other team keys in on Peja if he's been making shots. They double him quite often and try to make sure he doesn't continue to burn them. He got going early tonight so the Hawks made an extra effort to contain him and not let him shoot. What I like about Peja, when that happens, is he'll pick it up defensively, gets more active on the boards, makes steals, etc. I agree his defense on Robinson wasn't as good as Hedo's, but then Hedo got Robinson at the end of the game when Robinson was tired too. What was up with Hedo? A couple of airballs (?), and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from outside. Then when he tried to go inside he missed his layups.

All in all, this was a much better game from the Kings than the last 4 or 5. They were more aggressive and consistent on defense which gave them additional offensive opportunities. I'd still like to see Bobby slow it down a little and Christie not make those one-handed swing-like passes though. Speaking of passes, Vlade made some beauties tonight. A couple could be used in training films of how players should pass the ball.
