AS
THINGS STAND...

The
Mavericks came back from a 16 point deficit
to beat the Supersonics by 10 and extend
their win streak to 13, the fourth best
start in NBA history. The
Kings pulled out a victory in Portland over
the gifted Trailblazers and Bob Delaney.
The
Pistons womped on the Pacers.
Mavericks
13-0
Pacers 10-2
Pistons 11-3
Kings 11-4
News
from the bottom: the Lakers are up to 4-9;
and the Grizzlies finally won a game - beating
Michael Jordan and the Wizards.
The
Kings still have lots of ground to make
up on the Mavericks but have almost 7/8ths
of the regular season to do it in; but they
are going to have to continue what they
started recently and expand upon it - and
play with PRIDE - to get it done.
Aside
from the losses to the Heat and the Knicks,
they have done fairly well for a team with
so many injured players. The list of Kings
players loss to injury (and suspension)
over the first 15 games is staggering. Yet,
they continue to win, especially at HOME.
Now they are starting to find ways to win
on the road again, in spite of all the back-to-back
games. I mean, how many teams could go into
Portland with TWO all-star caliber players
(Mike and Peja), and their key backup center/power-forward
(Scot), injured and in street-clothes watching
instead of playing. (Not the Lakers - they
only have two all-star caliber players,
Shaq and Kobe.)
Now,
they have another road back-to-back upcoming
- Tuesday, Cleveland; and Wednesday, Minnesota.
It will be interesting to see if their current
budding win streak continues...
Hopefully,
the Mavericks will start to lose soon. I
mean, at this rate the Kings would have
to sweep them to catch up.
