RIDICULOUS
MiloshD
So
there I was, thinking "Spurs are a
good team, this could be the most difficult
road game for the Kings this year, I guess
I will stay awake and watch it at 1AM".
Man, that was one funny game to watch! No,
wait, it was ridiculous! It seemed like
an NBA team playing against high-schoolers
and toying with them. "Look, kids,
if you keep passing the ball like that,
we'll just keep taking it away, OK?".
As a Kings fan, I fully enjoyed the game
but as a basketball fan I was dissapointed
in the Spurs. Maybe I just keep overrating
them.
One
defensive play by Christie in the first |
half was extra funny - I can't remember who had
the ball but Christie knew in advance who the
guy will pass to and how he will pass it. So,
at one point Christie makes a move as if he is
going to intercept the pass except the player
was not even thinking of passing the ball yet
- a couple of seconds later the player does pass
the ball exactly to the spot where Christie went
just seconds ago - sure enough Christie was again
right there and took off for another fast break.
It seemed that the Spurs offense was so predictable
that the Kings knew it better than the Spurs.
Popovic
was ridiculous himself, is he ready for retirement
or what?!?
Bottom
line, the Kings really really impressed me (despite
the Spurs playing lousy), which was hard to do
because I was already really really impressed
by their record so far.

Reno
Lady
A
very good win by the Kings last night - especially
for a team with only 7 1/2 players. I held my breath
when Chris went down because I saw him break his
fall with his left hand and you could just tell
that he landed on it really hard. Thank the fates
it isn't broken.
The
Spurs are a "good" team, the Kings are
just a better one. The problem I see with the Spurs
is they're still using the old-fashioned blueprint
for an NBA team of one or two "stars"
who get the majority of touches and expect the majority
of calls. The Kings are "5 guys playing as
one" - and they're proving it every time they
walk on the court. Not a one of them cares how many
touches they get or how many points they score as
long as the team wins.
I
loved it last night when they kept feeding Jim Jackson
because he had the hot hand. How many other teams
in the NBA will do that? Answer: Hardly any, because
everyone wants "my share" and if they
can get part of the other guy's share too, that's
ok with them. There's not a "star" ego
on the Kings team and I really believe that's the
main reason for their success.
I
was hoping the Jazz would beat the Lakers again
last night but really knew it would go the other
way. The Lakers were embarrassed by the Jazz last
time and they wanted revenge, much the same way
the Kings did against the 'Wolves. That's just normal
for a team with pride, especially at home. Besides,
I'm sure the Lakers had enough of their fans booing
them in the first half of the game against the Mavs.
I just didn't want to see the Lakers extend their
"winning streak" to 2 games!
I
agree the league is trying WAY too hard to put the
focus on the Lakers - who were boring last year
when they were winning, and were just plain cemetery-like
before Shaq returned and for most of the games since
his return this year. They may be the NBA champs
but that doesn't make them a fun team to watch.
The
Kings have played more games this season than any
other team, and they're winning far more than they're
losing, and they're doing it with fewer players
than any other team. If that's not a better story
than a team with a fat guy and a egotistical young
guy who disses his teammates all the time, I don't
know what is. Too bad dummies like those guys at
espn aren't smart enough to figure that out. But
then the "es" part of espn doesn't stand
for "especially smart" does it?
