THOUGHTS ON THE SEASON SO FAR
Pope68

1) For me it's been a pleasant surprise as well as a frustrated one so far. The nice thing going on is that the Kings are ahead of last year's pace despite all those injuries and the national media is starting to catch up on this. With Bobby's injuries I guess I can borrow a quote from the Fakers down south, "It as low as it can get" in terms of injuries. Thursday will mark the 9th different lineup the Kings will have used so far (WELCOME BACK MIKE "ICE ICE" BIBBY!).
Before the season started, I was anxious to see how the new 10 men rotation would work out because we would be 2 deep at each and every position on the floor. Vlade/Pollard, Webb/Keon, Bobby/Bibby,
Peja/Hedo, Christie/Wallace. Unfortunately the injury bug caught us and now I just hope that Pollard takes his time and get healthy. I'm starting to think that we'll never get to see the original Petrie plan in full force, i.e 2 starting 5. :) Pollard is an integral part of the Kings plan this year in its quest for a championship and there was something mentioned on ESPN.com alluding tho the fact that he's the best backup center in the L. Everyone seem to be focusing on Bibby but Pollard is just as important to the Kings.

2) This is the best C_Webb has played in the last 3 years. He's doing things that even surprises me. We were all b*tching about his FTs early on but seems to me that he's been working on it and it showed in the

Utah game. He's jumping much better and making plays that reminds me of 1999 and I think he's answered those questions about being clutch although there'll always be those who will still doubt him until he makes a championship winning shot.

3) As to the temp players, I think Damon Jones will be cut and JJ will stay. There's already a lot of teams waiting to claim him off waivers as soon as Bibby gets back. There's only one reason to keep JJ, and that is to keep him away from the Fakers. He'd be a perfect fit for LA, a veteran who doesn't need plays to be drawn for him. He can get his points just like a Rick Fox or a Robert Horry. If I'm Petrie I keep him even if it means putting him on the IR!

4) Wallace's inconsistent playing time has me confused now. At the beginning I though he was gonna at least get some PT but RA seem to have forgotten about him and has fallen too much in love with JJ. I just hope Wallace keeps his head up and continue working on his game. His jumper looked for a few games but he's looked lost on offense lately when JJ came aboard. This is one of the thing that's got me scratching my head.

5) When everyone's healthy, I hope guys like Vlade, C_Webb, and Bobby get some rest so the whole team can be healthy come playoff time. Again we need Pollard to spell Vlade although Keon can do an adequate job at the Center position.

I don't think Cleaves helped himself by his play in the last 2 minutes of the game. It looked like instead of running plays and setting up the offense he was looking to drive to the basket and score or take shots when he should have passed off to another player.

Jones' play earlier in the game were more what I think Coach wants from the point guard.
